Abstract: Cu/Co subsituted Ni-Zn ferrite system having grains of small size have been processed by sol-gel synthesis using polyethylene glycol (PEG) as the binding agent. The sample were annealed at 4000C for 1 hr. These samples were made into pellets and were .sintered at 10000C for 1 hr. Crystallite size has been measured from the FWHM of the X-ray diffraction peaks besides confirming the spinel structure. TEM pictures were also recorded to calculate the particle size. The lattice constant, saturation magnetization and initial permeability show significant varaition for all compositions varying with cobalt and copper concentrations The influence of these properties are studied in order to explore the microwave absorbing properties of Co/Cu substituted Ni-Zn ferrites.
