Activities of the Department:

The Department regularly conducts IT symposium (named Gynana Tharangini Vyakyana Mala) every year for M.Sc computer Science students to provide them a platform to interact with the alumni students and industry to update them on latest trends in IT & corporate world.

BCA students organize Hardware workshop every year under the supervision and guidance of the department.

The Department conducts extended Guest lectures on various topics for M.Sc Computer Science students covering modern trends and technologies.

The Department organizes Charles Babbage Day every year for Computer Science students on 26th December in commemoration of birth celebrations of Charles Babbage, the Father of Computing.

During this event, we conduct various competitions like paper presentations, poster presentations, quiz, online examination, test your programming skills, utility programmes etc.

The Department is also responsible for EZ school maintenance, system maintenance, OU software maintenance for nominal rolls etc.

Activities 2014-15:

Event 1:
Our lecturers Mr. G Mahesh Kumar and Mr. CHNV Mallikarjuna Rao have attended a refresher course on “The Current Technology Trends in Information Technology”, which was organized by UGC ACADEMIC STAFF COLLEGE,JNTU, Hyderabad from 09-06-2014 to 28-06-2014. This course has highlighted the importance and implementation of latest upcoming technologies like BigData Security & Analytics, Virtualization, Cloud Computing Security, etc.,

Workshop on Ethical Hacking - 1 :

The department conducted workshop on “Ethical Hacking” which had a remarkable response from 150 students on 19th and 20th July 2014. The session was taken by Mr. Srinivas (Software Engineer) in TCS, who has a vast experience and exposure in Ethical Hacking.

Workshop on Ethical Hacking -2 :

Mr. Ankit Singh from IIT – Delhi (Research Scholar) has shared his knowledge on “Ethical Hacking” in the workshop on 11th and 12th September 2014 held in our college premises conducted in collaboration with IIT -Delhi. We received excellent feedback from students and there was a request for advanced Ethical Hacking workshops in the future. The short listed 3 students are directed to IIT-Delhi for National context held in the month of March-2015.

Bhavanotsav :

Bhavanotsav is an inter-collegiate event conducted by our college every year. This year Bhavanotsav – 2014 was conducted on 27th & 28th August, 2014. As a part of Bhavanotsav(ASYMPTOTE), our department organized Online Exam and LAN Gaming. In online exam 135 students participated with lot of enthusiasm. In LAN Gaming, 3 different games were hosted namely Counter Strike 1.6(Clan of 5), FIFA-14 with Xbox, NFS-Most Wanted. A total of 130 students took part and it was a memorable event with lot of fun, excitement and participation.


Placement Training Program:

The department has been a motivating force in conducting Placement Training Programme (PTP) since 2011, for final year students of B.Sc/BCA by enhancing their skills and create an awareness among them to perform better during placement drives and drive out with flying colors in achieving a good placement in an reputed organization.

Multimedia Course:
The department is organizing a value-added course MULTIMEDIA from 13th August, 2014 to 11th October, 2014. A total of 40 students attending the course from various streams (B.Com, B.Sc, BCA) with lot of interest.  Multimedia applications like Photoshop, Flash, Coral Draw and Page Maker are the course contents.

IT Workshop:

The Department of Computer Science has conducted IT Workshop for the first and second year students of UG with duration of 5 days for each batch. This course was basically to bring awareness of the computer hardware components and to assemble the PC with partitioning the hard disk and to load Windows operating system. The total no of students who attended IT Workshop:17 members of Batch-I, from B.Sc I year from 9th Sept to 13th Sept 2014.  The certificates will be distributed on the day of Charles Babbage celebrations on 26 Dec 2014. There is a proposal to have more batches based on the demand of the students.


Seminar on Networking :

The future is in Networking”, keeping this point in view, the department organized a seminar on 16th july,2014 at 12:20 p.m. in MBA Seminar Hall II. The speaker Mr. Mohammed Hyder Khan was from CMS Info. Systems Pvt. Limited, Hyderabad.
The main objective of this seminar is to throw light on practical approach of networking in IT industry, During this process the speaker Mr. Mohammed Hyder Khan also motivated students towards CCNA Certification. There was an immense response from students.

CCNA Course:

The department has the privilege of conducting a course on “CCNA” course keeping in view the trends and demand in the IT-Industry.25 students of BCA final year enrolled for this course. The course started on 15th September 2014 and will end at 30th September 2014. The course is conducted in collaboration with CMS Info. Systems Pvt. Limited, Hyderabad.

Charles Babbage Day

Department of Computer Science conducts annual event Charles Babbage Day in the month of December in commemoration of the birth celebrations of Charles Babbage – The father of Computing.
The department started this event in the year 2005. The main objective of this programme is to provide the computer science students a platform to know learn and get an awareness of the latest emerging trends in computer science& information technology.
To accomplish this very objective, the department motivates the students to participate in several events in areas of computer science and information technology conducted during this programme.

This year we had two guest lectures by Mr. Y Satish, Sr. Manager – HR, Cognizant and Mr. K Kiran Kumar, Software Test Lead, ESN technologies.
The department also provides the students an opportunity to interact with the college alumni. We had a talk with Mr. T Surya Bhagvan, M.Sc (Computers) 2007-2009 batch, working as DBA, Oracle Apps, Evoke Technologies.
To make the students get practical knowledge about the subjects taught, the department encourages the students to work on mini projects in subject including C#, VB.NET, Oracle, Web etc.
