Inception and Growth
The Computer Science Department has been an integral part of the college since its inception. It started out with only one undergraduate course – B.Sc (computers). Today it offers B.Sc, BCA, B.Com (computers), and M.Sc (CS). The Department staff has grown from 2 members to 26 members and caters to more than 2,100 students from a modest beginning of 30 students.

- We the department of Compute Science believe in “Teamwork” because it is
the ability to work together towards the common vision. The ability to direct

that allows common people to attain uncommon results.

| Facilities |
The infrastructure has grown manifold from a modest beginning of 15 computers in 1 laboratory to 252 computers in 8 laboratories with internet, intranet and backup facility (UPS with Batteries) in all the labs.Briefly we have:
- 252 systems of P-IV and Dual core with Multimedia.
- 20 Printers (Laser jet, Dot Matrix and color Inkjet).
- 9 LCDs.
- Internet and Intranet facilities.
- Backup facility (UPS with Batteries).
- Generator facility.
- Centralized office automation.
- Software required for all the courses.
- The Department has been responsible for updating & maintaining our college Website in coordination with Sholay Online Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
We also have a large collection of IT books, journals and magazines in the UG and PG Libraries.

| Departmental Activities |
- The Department regularly conducts IT symposium (named Gynana Tharangini Vyakyana Mala) every year for M.Sc computer Science students to provide them a platform to interact with the alumni students, and also have an industry – student interactions to update them on latest trends in IT & corporate world.
- BCA students organize Hardware workshop every year under the supervision and guidance of the department.
- The Department conducts extended Guest lectures on various topics for M.sc Computer Science students covering modern trends and technologies.
- The Department organizes Charles Babbage Day every year for Computer Science students on 26th December in commemoration of birth celebrations of Charles Babbage, the Father of Computing. During this event, we conduct various competitions like paper presentations, poster presentations, quiz, online examination, test your programming skills, utility programmes etc.
- The Department is also responsible for EZ school maintenance, system maintenance, OU software maintenance for nominal rules etc.

| Staff Achievements |
- Mr. Bhaskar published a book for B.Com –FIT and translated Tata McGraw-Hill book from English to Telugu version. He is also a guest lecturer in Department of Mathematics O.U.
- Ms. C. Sirisha and Mr. G. Mahesh Kumar completed M. Tech (CSE) from O.U with distinction.
- Mr. K. Srinivas Rao, Ms. V. Sriprada are pursuing (M. Tech-CSE) and Mr. Rajesh (MCA)
- Mr. P. Srinivasa Completed SCJP (Sun Certified Java Programming) with Distinction.

| The Department has the distinction of consistently logging above 95% results every year. Many reputed corporate firms from IT industry, such as WIPRO, SATYAM, INFOSYS, COGNIZANT etc have recruited our students. |

| We are also proud to announce that 9 out of first 10 ranks from O.U for B.C.A are from Bhavans. |
