 Inception and Growth
The languages department is the backbone of the college
because effective communication is required in all fields.
It has 11 lecturers headed by Mrs. Ujjwala Desai. The team uses the appropriate tools to make the learning of the languages Meaningful.
The English lecturers are committed to the taste of cementing the formation of grammar Ensuring that the students become effective communicators. With the university making Spoken English a part of the curriculum, the setting up of language labs has enabled the students to improve their skills.
Regular activities:
The Department is involved in all the major functions and fests, like Freshers party,Yuva Mahotsav and Farewell Party, apart from which it conducts the Languages Day Celebration on a grand scale ,engaging student participation.
Dr.Kameswari,a senior language lecturer has been put in charge of heading the N.S.S
Programme. Camps are set up and a large number of students actively involve themselves in community service. It is a singular honour, that Dr.kameswari is representing the osmania university Members of Department as part of National Integration Camp.
Apart from this, the department is involved in the student magazine VIBHA and the student affair committee with the focus on personality development ,interpersonal skills and self confidence.
Activities of the Department 2010-2011
Department(Xpressions) is organizing a Farewell Party for the Seniors Titled "LIFE AMPLIFIED" on Feb 2,2011 @ 12:30PM
A) Programs exclusively organized by the department:
- FDP: A Faculty Development Program was organized on 26th June 2010 by the department for all the faculty members of the college.
- Orientation Program for Freshers: An orientation program was organized on 7th June 2010 for the Freshers on their first day of college.
- Languages Day Celebration: Many literary competitions were conducted in various languages. These competitions were conducted during Languages week i.e. from 20th September 2010 to 25th September 2010 and on 12th November 2010 Languages day was celebrated on which winners were awarded with prizes.
- Yuva Mahotsav: An annual cultural fest was organized for students on 30th and 31st of December 2010. Competitions like Dance, Singing, Rangoli, Master Chef etc. were organized.
- Photo Session: Photo session for the final year students, teaching and non-teaching staff was organized on the 5th January 2010.
- Fare-well Party: Fare-well party for the Final year students will be organized in the first week of February.
- ‘Vibha’- The College Magazine: Department is responsible for releasing the annual college magazine on the Annual Day.
- College Prospectus: Department is responsible for releasing college prospectus towards the end of this session i.e.2010-2011.
B) Activities organized in collaboration with Xpressionz Club-Students’ club:
- Freshers Party: A welcome party for freshers was organized on 21st August 2010 which included cultural programs.
- Kalasangam- Bhavanotsav: An Inter-collegiate fest was organized on 16th December 2010. The department contributed to this fest by organizing literary and cultural activities i.e. Kalasangam.
** Apart from the above mentioned activities, the department contributes in all the programs organized by the college like- Independence Day celebration, Republic Day celebration, Annual Day etc.
